We requested an appointment with him for my mother's thyroid abnormalities and general health. His secretaries asked if we wanted a functional medicine appointment or a regular one; we chose functional medicine, so we paid several times the consultation fee and filled out a 20-page preparatory form. I traveled from outside Istanbul to pick up my mother from Izmit and take her to Istanbul. After all that effort and payment, what did we find? He hadn't read the form, hadn't done a preliminary assessment, and hadn't taken a detailed history of my mother. After quickly asking three questions and checking with Doppler ultrasounds, without even asking about our financial situation, he ordered very expensive imaging tests and referred us to a specific center. As for treatment, he said he had amazing serums from Germany and recommended several sessions of treatment for my mother's scalp at astronomical prices. Beyond that, he gave us neither a treatment nor a follow-up appointment. We left thinking he was just a businessman. I don't recommend him to anyone. We had to make an appointment with him because Professor Mustafa Atasoy was fully booked. But now we warn everyone: don't expect to see a true medical professional. It's a commercial enterprise.

Never, ever, ever go there! Dr. Mehmet Mahir Atasoy is a person who disregards human life for money, and has zero medical skills, ethical values, and humanity. I am a doctor myself. We went to see him for my daughter's varicose veins and high CRP levels. He presented himself as the most expert on varicose veins, and unfortunately, I fell for it. Firstly, after a two-minute ultrasound without a proper Doppler, he said he could easily perform a laser procedure on her with a very short time. My daughter had no pain or any other complaints. Apparently, it shouldn't be done without complaints... Since I am a doctor, I asked if there would be any side effects or complications after the procedure. My daughter will be starting university abroad in two weeks, and I didn't want any problems, especially since she had no complaints. He insisted that there would be no problems and that she would recover in 1-2 days, directing me directly to the payment section. They charged a fee even higher than the highest fee in the market. The room where the procedure was performed was very small and unsuitable for licensing; there was neither an oxygen tank nor an IV line in the room. After the very painful procedure, my daughter's blood pressure dropped, she experienced temporary vision loss, and afterwards, without any IV fluids or follow-up, they hastily sent her away, saying, "Hold her arm so she doesn't fall!" They didn't provide compression stockings, as they should have. I'm a doctor myself. Normally, after such interventional procedures, you never discharge a patient until their condition is stabilized and they've been given IV fluids, etc. My daughter's blurred vision lasted about 15 minutes, then she recovered. I even took her to an eye doctor a few days later out of fear. In the following days, she experienced extreme pain. She needed a check-up a week later, but Dr. Mehmet Mahir, rushing from course to course, conference to conference, didn't follow up. When I asked him when she would fully recover, he said two months!!! My daughter and I were shocked because he had said there would be a recovery period of one or two days after the procedure. He lied just to get the money, it's unbelievable!! A week after the procedure, her leg became excessively swollen and hot. I took her to another doctor friend, who diagnosed thrombophlebitis and started treatment. The period after that was very difficult, with intermittent swelling and pain in the leg, constant sadness, anxiety, and regret... Even though 1.5 months have passed since the procedure, my daughter still has pain in her leg, with 6-7 painful swellings/thrombus. I have to go abroad to be with her. Our family is devastated, our lives have become miserable. This morning I messaged Dr. Mehmet to ask about my daughter's pain, and he responded to me disrespectfully!! When I spoke to other doctors who deal with varicose veins, they told me that many patients with complications had come to Dr. Mehmet Mahir Bey, and they asked why I went to him... I wish I had known :( Therefore, I wanted to inform patients who are considering going to him based on the polished, false image he has created on social media and the positive reviews he has some course students write, out of conscience... because I don't want anyone to be victimized like us... By the way, if you are considering going to him for Functional Medicine, please choose another doctor, because he prescribes the same medications to everyone without looking at the test results, medications from his own pharmaceutical company, and he even printed them out directly from the computer instead of writing them by hand. I can send a picture here if requested. I showed him my daughter's test results from the last 6 months, and he didn't look at any of them and just gave me a ready-made prescription. I wish everyone healthy days where they will encounter honest and ethical doctors.
